Handsfree kit / Alpine UTE-72BT
Hi all,
I was planning to get a Parrot BT Handsfree kit wired into my S2k, but the local car audio place suggested I fit a Alpine UTE-72BT instead.
Claims it will only cost £10-20 more than the Parrot kit fitted and would considerably improve the sound quality.
Now, I know nothing about the world of ICE and have never replaced the standard built in audio system in any car I have ever owned.
I read a few posts on here and it seems that for some Alpine units, you can still use the dashboard controls for volume etc. However, the local place reckons it would cost extra to make the controls work with the UTE-72BT. Is this true or should the standard adaptor leads etc (that I expect them to use) just work?
Also, will the 72BT make much difference to the audio quality of the standard factory fit unit? I have a 2004 model with a single CD slot player.
I have been quoted £170-£180 for the fitting of the 72BT - in East London.
Thanks in advance for any replies.
Cheers!

You will need a wiring adapter to be able to use the dash controls but the improvement over stock will be very noticeable.
That price to include the unit seems reasonable

The modifry is very expensive http://www.modifry.com/index.php?rou...18_46index.htm
Autoleads do an interface http://www.caraudiod...l-stalk-adaptor(note you'll need an additional adapter depending which manufacturer of head unit you choose, it's all explained in that link).

There's always Nexxia http://www.nexxia.co.uk/products.asp...rol%20Adapters
Also, the Celsus http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Stalk-Inte...-/331584507443
(note you will most likely need an additional patch lead depending on the make of Head Unit.)
