Default Handbrake failed and my car rolled into the road

!!! !!! Yikes

Parked my car on a mates drive as ever and walked 10 mins to walk(in a conjested area and it means I get free parking )

Half an hour later or so I get a call from his wife telling me my car has rolled off the drive and into the road Amazingly someone saw it - I can only assume it wasnt going that quick and stopped it - they then helped her push it back onto the drive and put bricks behind the tyres..................I get to it - check the handbrake and find I could have only put it on 1 notch more?? Nothing too special then.

So it seems I got away with it, someone must have been looking out for me but Im worried the handbrake must be duff

Was it in gear ? IIRC the manual warns that you should park in gear as well as using the handbrake. Brakes cool, brakes fail, car leaves the area - well known phenomenon.

Your handbrake didn't fail. Your discs were hot, you applied the handbrake, discs cooled and contracted, brake lost grip Common problem. leave it in gear on slopes

as the brakes cool the handbrakes will become less effective so use gears in addition

Yeah, been there. Done that.

Your not the first ADP, and you wont be the last.
We were lucky, some others have had damage from this little oversight. ( Or should I say feature of all round disk brakes )
