I actually watched a very good Skyline DVD the other day. Most R33s or R34s arrive in the UK at 276bhp stock. A bit of playing and 3k gets you 400bhp straight away!

What was impressive was Top Secrets modded Skyline with 1200bhp!! That they showed doing the midnight club thing in Tokyo!! 205mph from a standing start in a motorway tunnel! Same guy driving who got arrested on the A1 for doing 194mph in his modded Supra. I think stock Skylines are very rare!

I do wonder about some of these 'modded' ones:

I'm sure many make great 'headline' figures, but probably make the car less driveable than it was out of the box. (Sound familiar?) I know there are some that the specialists recommend that you do NOT do!

The R34 that I once followed was going effortlessly, but either the driver wasn't really trying, or the car was well matched to the S.
I spend a bit of time on www.gtr.co.uk and the main focus of the boards over there is drag racing, there's lots of threads about Ten of the Best and other competitions. Absolute power and straight-line speed is all most of them really care about. Not that there's anything wrong with it, horses for courses and all that.

This is a good video (posted on the above forum) which shows that power isn't everything - http://www.kyushu-danji.com/mov/20041121de...ai_20041121.wmv

Due to the gentle mans agreement both the R34 GT-T (2.5 single turbo) and GTR (2.6 twin turbo) state they have 280bhp but in reality the GTR is more like 320, most of the GT-T's that come in to the country these day's are standard due to how strick the SVA test is, its only when the cars are over the 10 year old barrier that you see a lot of tuned GTR's coming through.

Are you sure it wasn't an Infiniti G35?

The Skyline has been replaced by a 4wd 4-seater stretch of the 350Z, which looks exactly how you'd imagine it to do so!

The historical link to Prince Motors and their Skyline model has sadly been dropped.

Nick - in this DVD, they use an R34 Skyline as the camera car and it truly does trounce all the cars BUT it did hold up the S from chasing the 350Z!!!!

The G35 is the new Skyline but nothing is confirmed for an R version yet.

You normally find the UK specs have slightly more poke, but the JDM's all stick to the same figure. This is the same for the Supra and the Mazda RX.

All the Skyline's I've seen have blown almost everything out the water! Only the Scooby in the wet and modded Misti Evo's seem to be one step ahead.

I'm fairly confident that the Skylines are about the quickest for drag racing with some pushing out 1600bhp (excluding funny cars, etc!)

Have to correct you there AB, the G35 is not the new Skyline, the Skyline name has been dropped and a new GTR coupe is out in 2007/2008 over here. I'll try and sort you a picture.

Not according to Nissan Japan. It's still a current model.

Correct me if I'm wrong but you aren't confusing the Skyline with the R32, R33 R34 variants are you?
