Also, it's no good not knowing about how your suspension works - it will limit your enjoyment if you do not understand what is going on down there:

What, you a beancounter too?

They're measured optically, and since we're talkin in minutes, there is a fair margin for error.

In fact, if you take the car off the machine & put it on again, you may get slight variances on the measurements too!

If what the guy said is true (that the adjusted toe figures are in mm), I can see that adjusting to within a few tenths of a mm will be tricky.
