Yet another reason for me to abandon my grand plans to automate my garage door
Just thinking, aren't the ridges on the wings higher than the bonnet? I'm surprised only the bonnet got hit.
The bonnet must be quite well sprung I imagine, so I don't how easy it might be to press out a dent - hope it works out.

Ash something very similar to my experience. The only thing different with my incident was that the garage door is manual and while reversing back into the garage I hit the garage door upright with my wing mirron. As I sat there all I could do is watch this door come slowly down and it must have taken at least 8 seconds or so but at the time I felt helpless and unable to do anything. Couldn't get out of the car because the door wouldn't open and for a few seconds I actually thought the door wouldn't come down but it did. Later I realised that if I had pushed the bars that keep the door up I could have avoided the incident. Had a long scratch on the bonnet aout 5" long. Never again though.
