Default gtechniq preparation

Having had limited success with an auto glym product I'm going to try some Gtechniq l1.

The auto glym banished the cold shoulder for a couple of months but it returned last week

Should I scrub (gently with soap and water) the roof (OEM) to try and remove the previous product?

Feels like this would enable the Gtechniq to do its job best...

Thoughts?

Thanks.

Did your Autoglymn product not come with a cleaning kit?
I had some of the Autoglym fabric roof kit (as opposed to vinyl proof) from a previous car.
The cleaner came with a mild but abrasive pad which took all the traces of previous proof etc off. I then applied the proofing with a small foam pad panel by panel taking care to avoid spills on glass. Still beading 4 months later. Granted the hard top is on now for the winter, but I will use the same again when the top is removed in spring.
Soap and water may do but you will need a pad of some sort which is mildly abrasive to take previous proof.off I would think

Sorry - should have been more specific.

The cold shoulder that you get when the water that has seeped through the roof and collected in the 'gutter' spills out on acceleration.

I'm sure I've seen a few posts where people have used this, with success, on their Vinyl - do you know different? I'm not 100% certain it's right. But I've ordered it now so I bloomin hope so!

Okey Dokey .

The auto glym stuff should come off with some APC worked in with a nail brush.

Never had the "cold shoulder " (not from the car anyway).

And the I1 is for fabric ! Excellent on mohair replacement roof's .

Most peope use Renovo or 303 on OEM roof's .

Thanks for advice.

I've cancelled the gtechniq and ordered the renovo kit which comes with cleaning kit: including brushes.

Hopefully there will be a dry day to apply it sometime soon as I don't have a garage

I'm pretty sure the gtechniq I1 is what has been used on my roof with great results. The renovo stuff is good too.

If the problem is a leaking from the roof seals, none of these cleaning products will fix it (Shin etsu greasing may help a bit). Take a look at this thread https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/907...g-roof-thread/ especially unclefester's posts.

I'm all etsu'd up!

The auto glym fixed things temporarily so need the same job ( waterproofing) but with longer lasting results.
