You missed the whole summer just so you could show off a 54 plate?

I'm sorry, to me that is a bit sad. You should have bought before the summer and just stuck a private plate on it!
Sorry, but you've missed my whole point of waiting for the new plate.
If you knew me you'd know I was the most unpretentious person around.
I probably would never have a private plate either, although I'm not saying they are all pretentious, far from it (there were some very ones at MM1).

The 'showing off' aspect was never the point of the decision, it came down to one thing only - a slightly higher resale.
Also, it was not a massive compromise in my situation - the difference between having it delivered at the start of August at the earliest, or waiting one month.
I think most people would have done the same.

I agree up to a point, Alex. I ummed and erred about delaying taking my 04 until 1 March on an 04 plate, but ultimately decided I didn't want to wait and so took it at the end of January on a 53 plate.

I got the car a month earlier but it does mean that on resale it will be worth around a grand less than if I had waited and taken it on an 04 plate. I see understand why someone might delay delivery by a few weeks to save themselves that kind of hit on resale, even if it meant missing a few weeks of summer.
Registration date wasn't a factor for me, just had my CTR for a year and decided to trade up and this was the timing.

PS I did the same, although mine's a private plate I waited until Sept 1st before picking the car up (arrived early August) purely for resale. Having a private plate on it, nobody knows its a 54 anyway, until I come to resell it!
