Default Got my new tyres today

Damn, what a difference.

It handles like I always thought it should do in the wet, I take it all back! It feels so solid and planted, with wheelspin as you'd expect when you drive silly, but there's so much grip when those Bridgestone's warm up.

When I saw the old tyres come off I was shocked to see what was there. Even at 1.6mm depth the water channeling had all but disappeared. The guys removing them were shocked I'd driven for so long in this horrible weather in them without dying or getting the jail.

So I'd suggest if you strongly question the Bridgestone's in the wet, check your tread depth. Even at legal levels, the channeling can be completely useless; bringing on some of the nasty crashes we've seen recently.

1mm is legal is it not?
I wouldn't run "widowmakers" at less than 3mm

If you tried another tyre you wouldn't run them at all

No tread is the right tread pattern for the dry, we all know that.

S02s are superb in the dry - that's where the S is best - I wouldn`t touch any of these other compromise tyres for dry and wet. The S is total shit in the wet and doesn`t belong there.

This is a car for nailing in the dry. Discussion over.

01, solid, original old school.

Legal limit is 1.6mm, my lease company says 2mm and I change at 3mm There is NO way I will run S02's below 3mm.

Here we go again I wish I had some video footage of Leggy at MM1 when the heavens opened, I'd challenge any Scooby owner to keep up with her that day.

discussion not over. i drove mine round donington in the wet with fairly well worn fronts and plenty of treaded rears and found they gripped as well as any other car i have driven in the wet. it was the temperature that was more of an issue than the wet. when they were cold the grip was poor. when they warmed up the worn tyres gripped fine.

i'm not denying that other tyres are better in the wet, but the s02's are not the deathtraps people make them out to be.

I agree, this has been done to death but for my 2p I'm running on SO2s at the moment and they're great (admittedly I've not run it on anything else) I don't drive particularly quickly in the wet but I don't plod either, they've not given me a brown trouser moment yet.

Interesting to note that Lisa does not have S02s.
