Default Got my MY00 Wheels Powdercoated

Hi Folks,

Long-term lurker here. Have a 2000 Silverstone/Red S2K and the usual problem with corroded alloys. Spoke to the dealer (Sloan, now Chaphams in Edinburgh) recently and they sent off photos but Honda wouldn't touch it. I wasn't surprised given the experiences I'd read about here.

Anyhow, Honda offered to "paint" them for me. I declined, funnily enough! Got them powdercoated at BBS Edinburgh. Results below:

Bigger pic (300k) here.

I'm chuffed to bits with the results. Obviously I didn't want to do it a wheel at a time, but I don't have a garage. So... I dropped it at Allan from BBS's place one night and when I came back the next, it was all done. He took the wheels off, tyres, removed the chips and scuffs, shotblasted, powdercoated and lacquered them. Then he put it all back together, internal wheel weights, greased the hubs, everything. The best part?

Great result.
Mine's an 02 and is starting to show a few marks I'm not happy with. The hub covers are bubbling and there are a few "spotty" areas on the alloys.

I took it to my dealer about 6 weeks ago to point out the covers. "We'll replace them. Will ring you when they're in."

Haven't heard a peep yet.

Yeah I'd noticed a few marks while it was still in warranty, but didn't do anything about it at the time. D'oh.

The one thing the guys doing them said was "you caught them in time". The moral seems to be - don't hang about. If they get too corroded, the finish won't be anything like as good.

Your Calipers look a bit worse for wear - get them done too Red is best, or just paint them
