Standard speakers are defo 6.5 inch (16.5cm), only issues are with mounting depth.

This is exactly the some combo as I'm going for

I'm off to Impulse Sounds in Watford tomorrow to get the finer details / specs sorted. With lots of roof down driving planned, i need to get the ICE sorted ASAP

I'm raging!

Bought the Apline 9881R headunit with ipod, and some kenwood PS 1700 speakers today. Cost a lot more than the prices on this thread... and i paid alot for fitting...

but most annoying it sounds shite.

Not happy, going back this week, will try and get an upgrade on the speakers... what do you reckon?

Kenwood speakers

rear speakers

Decent amp and front speakers Alpine and Genesis are both good.

Make sure they turn down the attenuation on the tweeters as otherwise they will sound too bright at high volume. Infinity speakers are particularly suspectible.

Walk away, source the bits for the best price and fit them yourself. I'd never done any ICE installation before but with a good study of the FAQ on the Electronics forum it was quite straightforward (although trying to feed the chunkier speaker cables into the doors and refitting the door grommets can cause some blue language). I have to repeat the process shortly with another S2000.

the ampt puts out 30W at 4ohms and 50w at 2ohms, whatever that means ! all at 12v????
Most component speakers are 4ohms (mine are unusual in requiring 3 ohms which could stress a bridged amp) so the 30W is the figure you should be interested in. Being Alpine, that will be a conservative RMS figure. You will also see RMS figures quoted for 14.4V which I understand is the more likely juice on the move.

Std speakers are 6.25" most after market speakers (that are suitable) are 6.5" ehnce the need for the basket mod or replacement.

OP Don't the dash interface - go with Modifry's one!

Yes this is definitely a problem, far to much top end, fairly good bass, and very thin mid range.

Its not like i even picked these speakers, they talked me into them, i wanted JL or Alpine ffs.

Does anyone know where i stand returning the lot? as with regards to the fitting charge? I wrote a cheques so i could just cancel it and turn up with the stuff in their boxes. I feel really cheated as the cost was so high for the HU and speakers, the fitting was also dear and at the end of it all i didn't even get what i wanted!

i'm in a huff .... (like the spoilt brat i am - lets face there are worse things happening in the world! )

but find out where your cross overs are - probably in the door panels. Then alter the attenuation on them (hopefully you can do so) - usually just a question of moving a jumper
