carbotech xp10's are awesome. Stopping power is greatly increased over OEM.. the difference is night and day. They are not cheap but you get what you pay for. (I use these on the road only)

I wouldn't recommend XP10's for mainly road use TBH.

Chaps, you should know that AJ's running a turbo S; so anything OEM shouldnt be considered for 400+ hp

Why not? Unless he's going to be driving like a maniac and doing repeated stops/slowing downs from 3-figure speeds, most good quality pads will be up to the job.

I've done a fair bit of reading up on pads, pretty much set on Dixcel Z's all round now.

They are dusty, noisy and won't really get up to operating temp during normal daily driving, which in turn will wear out the discs faster. I had XP8's on my Evo IX and they were bad enough.

I didn't think you had. I don't find them hugely dusty or noisy. But if you can’t put up with a little noise and dust you shouldn't go for the big boys toys, It’s a trade-off for braking performance. They are equal in performance when cold to OEM and only get better and better when used. As for wearing of the discs..I’ve found this to be minimal. You have to expect a little though I guess it’s the trade off and toys scenario again.

My car is not a daily and is also boosted.

When a race pad is working outside its operating temperature the compound does not stabilise and is very aggressive to the discs. Yes they work fine from cold but you will be prematurely bringing your discs to the end of their life. You will also find that the dust is very corrosive and ferrous as it is essentially metal filings (much more so than street pad). If left uncleaned it can damage a paint work and be very hard to remove.

Before I get flamed i'm not saying anyone that does is wrong. Just passing the advice and knowledge gained from selling and using both street and race pads.
