Default Going to see an S2000 tomorrow...

Hi everyone

Basically I'm going to see an '02 S2K tomorrow with the intention to buy.
Now I have read load and loads on S2Ks over the past 6-8 months so know the obvious things to look for - TCT, 'clutch buzz' etc etc.

Just want to know if there are any other things that might indicate something isn't right. What to look out for on test drive etc.

I'm travelling a good distance to see the car and intend on putting a deposit down if everything goes well.

Thanks in advance

Have done mate. Just wanted to know if there are any tings that would scream 'walk away now'

All the things to listed in the FAQ don't seem to be too major

Ask the owner what oil he uses for top up's. If he can't tell you the make and viscosity off the top of his head, walk.

If it looks good, drives well and doesn't rattle + your gut feeling is OK then it is probably OK.

Test the knowledge of the owner by all means ... but obviously check all the paperwork, get it HPI'd.

Are the tyres OK + all the same make ?
General wear and tear for the age and miles - pedals, seats (though they do wear on S2K's)

Gearbox notchy potentially until warm ... some are better than others.

If you have any nagging doubts walk away - gut feeling for me has almost always been right ...

If you have read up the FAQ's you will have a good idea of common issues ...

Geometry and bushes. See if it has been done, if not then if you were thinking about getting the Geo done it could be quite expensive as the bolts in the bushes can seize and then all the bushes need replacing. But if it drives OK then you may not need to worry.

And yeh, check to see how much oil is in the sump, these cars love to burn oil...

Overall the car is very reliable and well built.

thanks. Yeah I've been reading the technical and FAQ threads like a bible the last couple of weeks!

Hopefully this time tomorrow I'll be an S2K owner and not just an enthusiast

Buy into the owner.

Not the car.

Exactly m1bjr. The last two cars I bought I must have racked up hours on the phone to them before hand - just to see their attitude and try and hear any 'love' for cars.

Both had it in abundance - and both were as described and pleasurable purchases.

All the best OP
