Default Glue

Was removing some decals from my wheels at the weekend. As usual, there was some glue left on the car. Tried using Aimee's nail varnish remover to get it off but didn't work that well. What do people out there use to get glue off with?. Would be useful for anyone removing Honda badges etc. etc. from their cars!. I think white spirit is a candidate but anything else out there (proprietary or otherwise).

Nail varnish remover It has acetone in it - a very good paint solvent. Check the FAQ for removing the side badges and their glue. IIRC WD40 or white spirit are good!

I'm sure I've read that people have used WD40 to get rid of the sticky gunge which can be left when de-badging the wing.

Try halfords bug and tar remover, I had lots of stickers on my windows and this did the trick very well removing the sticky glue . I reckon it will work

Don't worry!. Not on paint work!. Just on centre caps of wheels (had to take my "S" badges off in preparation for a wheel warranty claim).

Have tried WD40 before (eg. when removing number plate using adhesive strips) but to be honest it didn't really work that well for me. Will have to try white spirit.

Go out to the newsagents and get a tin of lighter fluid. Perfect and easy removal of sticky stuff. Costs 99p

best for removing badges is hot water and dental floss. lighter fluid is good for the sticky marks though i'd use autoglym intensive tar spot remover on the paint work.
