BTW OP I'd synth up as well!

Thinking on if you dont have the right facilities and tools, it may be easier for you to get it done at the stealers. I'd also recommend getting the diff and gearbox oil done at the same time if you go that route!

Most do, best just to funnel the waste oil back into the can you got the new stuff from! (from the washing up bowl)

There are a couple of council recycling centers near here. They both have a large bin for used oils. I keep an old oil container, a cat litter tray, and a funnel for the 'beater' services.

Well. It looks like I have everything ish then.

I do really want to do it for myself. A bit dull but as Mark says, a sense of achievement.

Will need the wrench and the washer. That's not going to be that expensive is it. Just need something to catch it in.

You will need to jack the car up to get to the sump bolt and you wont be able to take the filter off from above, nor by hand. So you will need a filter wrench too!

I dont have a torque spanner as per the link I posted in first post. Is it that important to have specific torque or can I just do it tight? Assume it sint that important..
