Told you, power to weight is the key, thats why I now have a single pipe, and no spare wheel and now weights roughley 1225kg over 1250kg which now means I now have 202bhp per ton as apose to 196bhp per ton. (this worked out with a 7hp increase in power from the exhaust)
Pays to do you research, now looking in to more weight saving and power gaining.

Always depends on who is chasing and who is leading.
In my S2000 I had a Z3M Coupe walk away from me as if I was standing... from about 50mph to 'higher' speeds.
Not the lardy weight of an M3 cab, but not that far away in performance.
I would agree that the M3 cab is probably about 1-1.5 secs slower than the coupe to 100mph, so the difference on the road is never going to be huge.

Never had chance to play with a Z3M
At the end of the day it's bloody pointless anyway I was just pointing out that there was never as much difference as people seem to think

Interesting, but really WGAF
However, I prefer the noise of the 3.2 6 to the F20C 4
I have a reall passion for sixes and that, along with the C32A, is a noise I would happily slow down for

its about a car length to a 120 leptons difference with a stock m3 coupe once you have a supa dupa charger - of course if theyve had a FI upgrade to some boost your stuffed

I had no problem pulling away from an m3 the other week.
but from experience with stock vs m3 the m3 was better straight line
ps db9,911 gt, and bentley continental all very slow compared to the S.

the E46 IS going to pull a gap at higher speeds, but it's a heavy car so only has about 210 bhp/tonne hence the early accell won't be that much different (the convertible is about 100kg heavier on the old M3 i think).
i encountered one at Donington, trust me, i am no Senna but I kept up with it. The 1/4 mile is about 13.5s.. round that track (short + twisty) i would reckon on the S being quicker with the same driver but not by much, that extra half a tonne is just too much for the twisties and it was never a great car
0-100 times are about 2s apart though so on a track with more straights/higher speeds the M3 would be very comfortably in front

If that is your thing.
I recently saw many examples of fast road cars (911, M3, M5,etc.) being pounded around Donington by modified 80's RS Fords.
But I know which cars I would rather own.
They are usually built in either Munich or Stuttgart
