Default German Blown apart

after footy last night a friend and i were chatting about cars as he has a problem with his e46 m3 cabriolet, after discussion ended we left the sport centre and proceeded home, as we both live in the same area it was a well worth time to see how the S performed against a German reps rocket car,

Well well well much to my suprise off the island we came (me in second gear in front) both on the limit hanging the tail just out of align on to the dual track then flat out for about 1/3 of a mile there was nothing in it while breaking into the next island i made a big gap, but much to our annoyance there was a vectra in the left lane, so both into the right lane to go straight over!? clip the apex then the tail stepped out very quickly on the S i thought the rear quarter was going to clip the vectra, caught the drift very quick then off we went again,

Up hill on the next part of the dual track where the torque of that 6cly 3.2l had an advantage but NO again there was nothing in it.

At the next island i go left he goes right to our homes, later on the phone he was so suprised at the performance of the little rice muncher compared to the German reps rocket he said "i may have to go to the local honda dealer to see what kind of deal they may do on a new S" (his m3 is is second car x5 normal drive!!!!)

i loved every minute of it

Sorry, but he must be a pants driver.

I've owned both an S2000 and an M3.

The M3 is much quicker in any environment.

Congrats on your driving though.

Not according to our resident s2k race driver chilled at a recent NW meet who now owns an M3 after have the S for several years, he reckons there is not a massive difference, and in fact felt in certain circumstances the S was quicker, at a track I think he said.

Maybe you just never reached the full potential of the S Steve?

MMM not sure ive had both too and i think in a straight line above 100 the m3 will eat the S but on cornering and braking the S will show its true colours.

just found this watch the lot then check out the lap times at the end.

HIlarious watching the m5 driver he did a great job with some awesome drifting skills, a car that size just shouldn't be able to handle like that, a beast of a car!

Thanks Streffie, I see your point.

But that was a race scenario, different drivers, cars getting held up etc.

I have owned 2 BMW M3's, and one S2000 (still got the S).

The BMW is much quicker in a straight line but does require a bit more commitment in the corners.

It is a heavier car and the S is more nimble.

But trust me on this, the M3 is quicker.
