Default Geometry setup near Chester?

Hi everyone

I want to get my car setup 'properly' and wondered if anyone can suggest somewhere not too far from Chester??

I have seen a place on google called ABP Motorsport in Crewe. Is there anywhere else? Also, do I just ask someone to "do the alignment" and let them set the car back to how it would have been when new or should I be asking them to do something more specific?

Could someone please give me some advice as I have only had the car a couple of weeks.

BTW its an '09.

Thanks

Tom

If you've just got the car and you have no specific requirements as yet then you are probably best just having it checked out and set accurately to the factory settings.

Buckley Tyres is near Chester and will set it to your requirements. They are not a mototsports specialist and wont give advice on settings but have good people and will align it properly at to the accuracy you want - happy to send you a sheet with everything on it you need to ask for if you like.

Hi

Thanks for that, I actually just had it done at Buckley Tyres last week and its for that reason im looking for a specialist..... the car seems less keen on cornering now than it did before I took it to Buckley.

I had 4 new tyres fitted though too and its making me wonder if that has anything to do with it? Couldnt find the RE050 MZs anywhere so I went for a full set of Continental SC3s with the same ratings etc as the Bridgestones.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Gav

do you have a print out of your geometry? If so, I can compare it to the one Buckley gave to me last week?

SC3 are good tyres, although maybe need a few miles to scrub in.

The difference in handling will also depend on the 'Before' settings too, maybe the previous owner had had it set up to. If you can also post your print out that will help

This is my print out. It should be different to yours as I asked for more Camber than standard. Where mine says -0°50' and -1°50' yours should be -0°30' and -1°30'As you can see the axle symetry is very good.

I've heard of ABP but not been, only other place local i know of is TDI North in Warrington

BTW welcome to S2000 ownership and the forum.

There are a few meets a year in the Chester Area and quite a few local owners, feel free to come along.

ABP are fantastic for getting your geo settings done - alot of my mates have had theirs done there.

Well, looking at your new geo, it doesn't suprise me that your S is feeling more stable! You have removed your front toe out.

Speaking of toe, you aren't running a lot on the rear.

Nothing wrong with those settings, but if you do want a more pointy front end, take it back to Buckley and ask them to put 5 - 10 minutes toe out on each front wheel.

They'll only charge you a few quid, and if you ask nice, they may not even charge at all.

I'd avoid ABP. They charge over the odds and they have tried to rip off a number of my friends. I live in Crewe and I still take my car to Buckley because they only ever do a good job.
