Just out of interest, if you find the 'optimum' settings not to your liking,
what settings do you use ?

Peeps very interesting bit of info from a very reliable source
Thank you you know who you are .

1999-2003 S2000 suspension set to original specification by factory.
This was for all RHD vehicles.

After customer complaints of excessive "tracking" (susceptibility to follow the wear patterns in the road) by UK customers, Honda UK carried out dynamic testing and arrived at an optimum specification to counter this effect of "tracking".

This is not an optimum performance setting, but only an optimum setting for poor UK roads and drivers who let their cars drive them and not point the car where they want to go.

When the S2000 had a facelift in 2004 the suspension pick up points in the chassis were modified to alter this characteristic and no longer required any modification to alter the effects of "tracking".

1999-2003 S2000 set to standard settings for best performance or optimum settings if the car is tracking.

2004 onwards S2000 set to standard.

If the springs or shock absorbers are modified or car lowered factory settings do not apply as the angle from suspension pickup to wheel centre will alter and no amount of adjustment can return the original fine balance achieved by the factory.

This is of course information given with the best intention and no liability can be accepted in case of any slight inaccuracies.

So in summary three crucial points here!

* Optimum Geometry is not for optimum performance.
* Preferred Geometry applies to all years!
* Changing springs or shocks - these settings go out the window!

I am having my Geo checked/redone after the recent print out showed it was in spec but not well done! I will post a copy of the print out to confirm the HUK 04 settings.

The 04/05 geo would most likely differ subtley to that of earlier cars - there are a number suspension changes after all. I think that the standard setup is code named "4X4"

My understanding is that the "optimum" settings are safer, rather than performance orientated - again I might be wrong.
told ya so

Mikey,

Can we just clear one thing up here. Your thread title states that this information is from HUK, but your post says it's from a very reliable source with the best of intentions.

I'm not being awkward here, but I have run into problems before where a trusted member of the board has given information for the faq, only for me to be flamed by another board member for the info being wrong.

Were my original 04 ok but just typed in a confusing way, or have you changed them.

I'll update when I get home, I'm on 32k dial up at the moment

Can I ask then from those who know..................

If one was to change ones wheels on ones car, to anything other than the beautiful and crafted Honda pieces of aluminium sh!t. Would one be wise to have the geometry done before changing and if one whats to check it again, one should put the Honda pieces of aluminium sh!t. back on?

This also leads one on to ask a connected question which is.
If one is foolish enough to change ones wheels on ones car is one, because ones wheels are not the ones the geometry would be set up on, likely to be using incorrect geometry for ones bling, or does the size and off-set of ones bling not make any difference, the key word being off-set as the centre of ones bling will be in the same place as the centre of Honda pieces of aluminium sh!t.

One thanks you in advance.
