Default Gearing Up for Gears

I'm about to start gathering together the bits to carry out the final drive mod to my 'S', hopefully later this year.

I've read PL's post and many others on the site but am still hoping to get some more info.

I realise I can order everything I need from Riks including a 4.57 Richmond gear, yellow jacket etc with a total cost of about

Stocky who I believe supplied the gears to some of you chaps on here
He did

Also does the gear need to be treated?
No.

In fact any further advice, parts for sale, avoidance of pitfalls etc etc would be more than welcome.
Get a diff from a breaker and get the new gear built into it before installing it on your car. This way your car won't be off the road for a few weeks.

You will almost certainly need to buy a spacer from a Honda dealer for building your gear. This doesn't come with the fitting kit as I believe it depends on the gear.

Get some spare diff bolts for fitting the new diff. It is common for these to break in the process. I bought 3 and 2 got broken.

Thanks Steven, I'm trawling the breakers at the moment for a low mileage Diff.

Get the gear from Stocky (he can order them from his Kia dealer) I will be getting one too.

Yellow Jacket from Modifry

Diff from a breaker (or there is one on the FS forum right now)

Craig had his gear cyrogenically (sp??) treated, although it isn't necessary in all cases.

www.gearboxman.co.uk can do the work for about 200 notes

I took the extra precaution after reading comments that the Kia Sportage (from which the final drive is taken) only produces 170bhp (although it may have a torquier engine) and so there was a little question mark over whether the final drive was engineered for a more powerful car. I think the risk is extremely slim and so I wouldn't bother, if I were you.

Do you mean diff bolts or propshaft bolts Steven? I had to buy one of the latter.

Propshaft bolt is 90182-S2A-000

Spacer depends on the gear but if you go for the Kia the part number for the spacer you need is in PL's thread.
