RED LINE Synthetic Manual Transmission Lubricant 70W-80 GL4 -1 (SKU: 00001256)
Feels great. My transmission wasn't overly notchy anyway apart from when cold. Now its nice and super smooth with just the nice solid bolt action rifle style clunk of engaging a gear that we all know and love.
I cant offer advice on any other products as it was my first service. Might try MTF next time just for a comparison.

I squirted Amsoil in mine, down at Ray's (and F3 ANG's fame) the other Saturday. Two hundred or so miles later, it's bedding in nicely. The Yanks seem to swear by it. You know that feeling you get when you rub a damp finger over an ice-cube? It's like that.

Fully synth for the Gearbox (Used to be SMX-S, now it's Syntrans 75-90) and Axle EPX 80w-90 for the Diff.

I have a 55K mile 53 plate and was suffering from notchy gears. The car recently (before I owned it) had gearbox and diff fluid changes at TGM in Fleet. He doesn't list the fluid weight/brand on the invoice but I can't believe he'd use anything other than premium spec.
Anyway, I followed the DIY on re-greasing the gear stick last night and I have a much smoother gear change with no "notchyness" even from cold this morning. I still don't get how it can improve the feel of the gears engaging though, I really wasn't expecting to it help at all and next on my list was a transmission change to Honda MTF3 - which I don't need to do now
