Default Full Suspension Alignment on Saturday

Well after much thought I've decided to book my car in for the full 4 wheel suspension alignment on Saturday this weekend.
The place doing it does the alignment work for Lookers Honda (Derby) and have done quite a few S2000s. Price

Personally I'd tell them that you are really curious how it all works and ask if you can watch.

You want full prints to take away with you of the before and after settings. It's best if you study general alignment before hand so you know what you are trying to acheive and can talk camber/caster with confidence(something that they rarely can at certain dealers).

Remember that every adjustment made will affect all the other bits so it's not unusual to then have to repeat the set up to fine tune.

Your price is mega cheap for a Honda alignment as it can take a couple of hours to get right.

Get your pressures spot on with cold tyres before you go. I think the Toyos benefit from about 34psi rather than 32 but I don't use 'em so check first.

You'll be able to tell how bad they were from the before/after print which will determine whether you feel a big difference.

Well worth getting done mate

(Oh and I sincerely hope they don't try to con you that there is something wrong with their computer and it just SAYS that they are wrong cos we've checked the car and it's spot on, honest, just a printer error. This means they can't get it right)

EDIT Just noticed it's not the actual dealer doing it. You should be fine if it's a specialist.

Get him to do the castor setting FIRST - it is the bitch to get spot on

Get a before and after printout of the settings. Compare them to the optimum b4 you hand over cash and accept it

yea mines about 80 quid on a lazer one.

However, they setup race cars etc.. (in swindon. so nearish to castle comble, silverstone etc). My ALfa spider was 60 quid, but evedently there much more in teh s2k suspension that can be alterered (which is a good thing) so it take longer to get right..

and you WILL notice a difference.

I told them (they setup race s2k's as well) to dial in a little understeer in mine, yes it everso slighlty understeers when pushed really hard, but seems to stop the oversteer snap a bit.. it forces me to balance the car on the throttle if i want the back out a bit more on large roundabouts etc..

I really noticed the difference in my car's handling, especially at the rear, when I had mine laser aligned. I see you have an MY00 (same as mine) so take the print out and settings with you so that they can get them spot on. If they try to fob you off when they can't get the ideal or even within the tolerances keep pushing as Honda initially messed mine up and made the car feel like it was all over the place, especially when I drove over man hole covers or the like.

A few fractions (or minutes to be technical IIRC) of a degree make all the difference.

i'm getting mine done on Saturday too. Aren't there some bolts you should ask them to grease while they're at it?

i quote (from tech faq)..

Suspension Bolts

It's not unheard of for older cars to have the suspension bolts seize, meaning that the geometry cannot be adjusted. Budget

Not sure if a tyre/suspension place will do this ? I had mine done at the Stealers where they removed the bolts and greased them. They then slapped heavy duty stuff over the outside once they were refitted - about 45 mins work IIRC

If you can get it done at the same time then thats a result

Well, I got it done on Saturday and what a transformation. Only the rear toe settings needed to be adjusted. The car no longer has a tendancy to jitter to the side when I go over potholes, stones etc.
The rear end certainly feels more reliable and assured.
It was a laser alignment - the
