Guage is fuel range not level. Drive hard it goes down, drive slow it goes up.

Fuel light comes on at 1.8gallons left. So go by that and having 30miles left max when it illuminates.

Crude in a tank is a myth.
Is that right? I'd never even thought of that. Makes a lot of sense though.

I'm the only one to have replied to this post so far. Somebody back it up please?

I think I remember someone posting relativley recently that they'd got 320 miles out of a tank by cruising at 60mph for the whole lot.

Doesn't sound much fun though

Hate to admit this, did a trip to Birmingham and back today from Norwich mileage got to 320miles with 3 bars left on the gauge.

Normally I get around 260miles to a tank so I was starting to get nervous knowing how it can suddenly go to nada

I had cruised mainly at a resonable speed but had been using the vtec off the roundabouts also stuck in stop start traffic on the M6 into Birmingham but still very suprised at how much mileage I haad got to.

I got nervous on the way back and decided to wimp out and stop for petrol as I knew the next station was 15-20miles down the road. Glad I did as after that a BMW330ci and i had some fun.

I got 320 for cruising at 75-80 for 3/4 of the tank and hooning round the lake distric for the last 1/4. I reckon you could get 350ish max.

Usually get 200-250 from a tank.

Yep - go with the "ignore bars, 30miles careful on the fill up indicator" theory.
Got 33mpg on a recent tank - the "downside" of wiggly roads to work, rare overtaking ops, and 45mph white vans & caravans.

Of course, the local shell garage is only 300yds from my car parking spot, so I have no excuse either way.

I got 320 miles recently then filled up with 45l. I did 45 miles with the light on. I was gutted when I realised there was still 5l in the tank.
