Yeah Dembo, but I'd not call that normal driving. Would you?

I think all fuel gauges are crap when you get to the last 1/4 of a tank. I've seen mine go from a quarter, down to 2 bars, then next morning, it's up to a quarter and I've done 60 miles before filling up

Rich - I'm sure you'd get home

I ignore my fuel gauge, I wait until i have done 240 miles then fill up. Never had to put more than 45litres in.

So chicken out and hope you get to the petrol station.

Its pissing down, you don't want to be stuck half way home trying to flag someone down with wet knickers.

The worst part of it was, the only person behind me, and thus on "giving lift" duty, was Colin Andrews

Thankfully the presence of a 5l can of petrol in the boot on the way back moderated his driving style. A bit.

Guage is fuel range not level. Drive hard it goes down, drive slow it goes up.

Fuel light comes on at 1.8gallons left. So go by that and having 30miles left max when it illuminates.

Crude in a tank is a myth.
