Fuel Light Roulette

Fuel Light Roulette
Fuel gauge decided to try and wind me up by going from 5 bars to 0 bars in 3 miles last night.
So, i've decided to play it at its own game and ignore it until i feel like filling up.
I've so far done 260 miles on this tank, 30 of which have been since the fuel light came on. Its a 16 mile journey to home and the nearby petrol station, or 3 miles to the petrol station slightly off my route home.
So, do i really tough it out and try for the 16 miles home, or wimp out and head for the 3 mile option.
I haven't got a can of fuel in the car.

Clarkson would be proud of you, Richard
I reckon you'll get home. I did around 30 miles in my 04 after the fuel light came on and it would still only take 46 litres when I brimmed the tank.

Hmmm....tough one...
S2000 tank is what? around 45 litres (what's the actual figure), or almost 10 gallons.
@25mpg you should get 250 miles from a tank...
@260 miles you are already over that...I think I'll vote the 3 miles, but happy to have you tough it out and prove me wrong....although isn't it bad to run the tank down to "air" as you risk sucking crude from the bottom of the tank into the fuel system...or is that an old wives tale?

It's a 50l tank. And you can get a minimum of 40 miles of normal driving after the light. I did 50 miles after the light the other week and still managed to only put 45l in the tank to fill it up.
Drive home you pussy!
And THEN drive back to work tomorrow. Just don't park on any hills in the meantime or it'll take a while for the fuel to be pulled from the tank.

Arrived at Tongue one night on WBT - no light, 3 bars.
Start up in the morning, light's on.
Car conks out 20 miles down the road
