Fuel gauge
My fuel gauge was at zero, didly squat, nada, zip.
So I went into a petrol station....had to resort to Ultimate as couldn't see a Shell.
Anyways, as it was so damned expensive (89.9), I only put a tenner in.
Went to pay and came back, started the engine, and............
Gauge was still at zero.
I thought...'a tenner's worth ought to have put at least a quarter of a tank in' but nothing was registering and the fuel light was still on too.
I drove around a bit to see if the gauge sensor needed a bit of a stimulus.
Nothing.
Being in South London, I (irrationally) thought.....these gits are trying to con me!
So I went o back inside and asked if their pump was working.
After suggesting I take my car to the garage to check my fuel gauge out (! - because I hadn't had a problem like this before), they did come and check while I put more fuel in.
Of course, I wasn't expecting him to 'prove' to me the pump was working by taking the nozzle out of my car to show me the petrol coming out!!!!!!!!!
As you can imagine, the side of my car was drenched in petrol!!
Anyway, I went to check the gauge and it was just over half full.
Apologising, I went to pay for the rest, and drove away sheepishly.
Anyone else had this with the gauge?

This does happen to mine San, and it is equally scary.
My theory is that it relates to the way the guage adapts to your average fule consumption. Either your consumption was very poor up until you filled up (city driving?) or perhaps the system output when the tank is nearly empty is " you're ed mate - you've nothing left, get your walking shoes on now " etc, and it takes this as the "average" for a while after you've filled up again.

Does the fuel gauge really adapt to driving pattern, or is it just a float that measures inaccurately sometimes due to the shape of the tank?
BTW, I've had mine go down to 0, and then back up a bit after 15 miles at 0.
