It cant hurt, and you might actually gain something, as you know its best that everything is clean, even cleaning the breathers and vacc valves helps alot with ideling issues ect

Well the one in my Civic was 14 years old and was a bit discoloured, but otherwise was absolutely spot on.
Remember, it's not designed to clean the fuel, thats the job of the fuel filter.
It's just to protect the fuel pump!

I'll just chime in here as i've spoke to my dealer about this.
AFAIK number 1 is the actual fuel filter.
and I believe some S's have a second fuel filter under the bonnet, according to my dealers anyway.
Hence why theres two different service schedules for fuel filters.
I may be wrong though, read most probably.
