Default Front and Rear Bumper Bar Removal?

Hey Everyone,

Im fitting my Amuse front bumper tomorrow, just wondered if its worth removing the bumper bars at the same time? They are very heavy and I love power to weight ratio mods, so was wondering if it would still be safe in an accident?

PS ive heard the imports dont have them anyway :s

cheers

Jon

I thought about this as well when I had my front bumper off.
I decided against it because its the towing point and the fact that if I did have an accident my insurance company wouldn't be best pleased at the removal of safety components.

Basically, if it's a road car don't bother.

I have to agree that is a crazy idea, Honda spend millions and millions developing their cars, the bumper bars are there for a reason, yes the removal of them would technically increase the power to weight ratio but you wouldn't notice the diffference, they are actually not that heavy.

Cheers.....Tony..

My JDM has no rear bumper bar but certainly has a forward bar, I wouldn't ever remove the front bar.

Effectively produce a "crumple zone" to absorb impact.

Plus, it's better to bend a metal bar which can be replaced and bolted back on, than bend the chassis itself!!

Also if you are crazy enough to remove the front bumper bar, the oem front bumper will probably sag as the polystyrene attached to the bar seems to keep the bumper 'in shape'. Not sure if this applied to the amuse one or not.

I removed the rear, but not the front.
