front number plate removal?

front number plate removal?
Done a search but is there any way of sneaking a hand somewhere to get one of the bolts out from the number plate holder.
I'll take the bumper off if i have to but it's a lot of effort for one bolt

Take the bumper off. You will do damage if you do not get the black square bolt holders out correctly.
You're aware that there are holes in the bumper also? If your plate is too small they will not cover!

Yep, going for standard size just removing the holder
previous owner made a right mee, drilled holes for the numberplate and went through the holder and the bumper!
gutted

I think the general consensus is that full size plates without the holder do not sit entirely flush and looks a little 'gash'
I have considered it but without a 3/4 plate I do not think its worth it. If you do it I want extensive pics!

I took my holder off, had to remove the bumper although i know a few people have been able to do it without removing the bumper.
Mine had the same screw holes through the bumper from the dealer screwing the plate on.
the plate doesn't look to bad or wrong wothout the plate holder.

I did this the other weekend as my existing plate had a hole in it.
Took the bumper off after finding some instructions with pics on here, took me about an hour (but would be a lot less next time). Back on was also easy, and the new plate does cover up the holes for me.
I've stuck the new plate on with high strength sticky backed velcro, so far so good though I may just go for really good double sided sticky tape to make the plate sit more flush... tub tape is the future for anyone who's done some track cycling

Well, I just put fresh plates on and out of interest I had a gander at the plate holder.
From what I can see - No chance.
Maybe becuase mine is an 06 AP2 but I had a good look around and a good feel (ooo err) from both up through the front grill and down from the top with the bonnet open.
Mine has a large plastic shroud that seems to cover the aircon kit and removal looked like a pain, even with it removed there was further plastic that shielded the back of the bumper.
