Front Bumper Respray
I've had to separate quotes for a front bumper respray, one from http://paintandbodyclinic.co.uk/ for £180 inc vat for a full bumper respray, they didn't even entertain the idea of repairing the damage and trying to blend it.
The other from an independent called Kendal Autobody who quoted nearly £100 more!
Has anyone used the Paint and Body Clinic and can you vouch for their work?

Mines going in next week for front lip and rear spoiler to be done. I've decided to get the whole bumper done again as the last place that did it made a terrible match. Something like 7 or 8 shades of silverstone. I gave the paint specialist that mixes for the bodyshop my fuel cap cover to take away and match so fingers crossed I will get a good result. £225 cash.

If you don't need a full bumper respray and the damage isn't too bad "Chips away" will do it. I had mine sorted and they did a pretty decent job.I was covering up all the old number plate fixings, there were eight when the plate was removed!

My front bumper isn't an exact match as it is anyway, all the painted plastics on the car are a very slightly different shade.
What should I ask from the spray shop then, something in writing that says they will endeavour to match the colour? I don't want to spend £180 for a crap job.

My dad is a paint sprayer with over 40 years experience in the trade.. He resprayed my silverstone front bumper last summer and it is a nightmare to match. Not just because of the 8 shades but because of the way the bumper meets the different panels at different angles. Initially when it was painted I thought we were miles off with the colour match but viewing from different. Angles showed a near perfect match.. Flushing in to bumper and wings would help give a seamless effect but colour match needs to be a1. Some paintshops use digital eyes that pick the correct shade but even they get it wrong! My advice with most paint shops is you get what u pay for.. Bigger bodyshops that deal in volume insurance jobs don't always go down the quality route.. Pop in to local bodyshops and have a look at the standard of their work especially on metallics and pearls..
