My father in law recently bought a Honda Accord from Alan Day Honda, with it he got a free MOT for life. Bully for him, I thought. Today I got a letter through from Crown Honda Bushey stating as a Loyal Crown Motors Customer (I had a service from them once) and to mark the company change-over my vehicle is entitled to a free MOT for life

Okay the small print, my vehicle must be serviced there at least every 12 months by them and they must carry out any mechanical repairs. Overall seems a good deal as long as long as they keep up the good work on the car

has anybody else encountered this or something similiar??

36k
45k

services there but I'm not up for an MOT until Jan anyway.

What company changeover are Crown having?

These sorts of things always make me suspicious - you don't get owt for nowt as they say.

Dealers sometimes do discounted MOT's, but they would have to claw back the loss by finding other work (genuine or otherwise) to do.

I often wonder how they can make any money doing MOTs unless they find things wrong with the car thet they can charge you extra to sort.

Of course, I am cynical, and it could be just good customer relations.

I got my 'Free MOT For Life' from Crown Honda Bushey the other day.

I can confirm that you'll get free MOTs' only if all servicing and repairs/maintenance is carried out by them - also, you can transfer it to a new owner if you decide to sell your car.

Nice touch I thought !

Thats the bit that worries me, in our best dealers list they have been in the top ten for some time. New management means new ideas!!!

I have had my car Serviced/repaired by either Brayley or Crown so I will probably shake this is Brayleys face and say "now how are you going to keep my custom"

i was offered this when i bought my car from kettering honda. Seeing as i get the next two years servicing for free as well it will be intersting to see what parts they find need replacing to claw back some of their costs.

Just seen the same offer in the paper from my local Honda dealer for anyone who buys a car from them.
