Default Ford SVT F150 Pick Up

No?

Me neither until tonight.

I was out for an evening blast and I overtake this pick up truck as I'm hooning around a roundabout and while I get a fair bit in front of him on the exit he's not getting any smaller and I'm flooring it. ??????

I let him overtake me and then we stop at a set of lights. This thing has huge tyres! and I see what it is. Still means nothing to me. He floors it away from the lights, as do I, and I'm barely closing on him. I'm mean if we had gone a mile I might have gained two feet or something - inching.

We're in a nice big industrial estate where it's very quite so we did the same again with the same results. I couldn't see him at all as the windows were blacked out but I gave him the thumbs up and I got a hoot of the horn in return. We came up to a slip road that joins the main freeway in Dubai, the Sheikh Zayed Road and it's a lovely tight S bend I got away from him then but as we hit the freeway I backed off as it's not the done thing to mess about with lots of other people about. He slowed for a couple of seconds and then disappeared.

That is one fast Pick Up!

Just had a search on the interweb and here's why!

[QUOTE]Overview
The SVT F-150 Lightning is a high-performance pickup truck with a supercharged V-8 engine and performance-tuned suspension.

Introduced as a 1993 model, the original SVT F-150 Lightning helped define the four hallmarks of a Special Vehicle Team product: performance, substance, exclusivity and value. Eleven years and two generations later, those same hallmarks make the 2004 SVT F-150 Lightning the best sport truck on the market. No other truck can match its combination of 380 horsepower and acceleration from zero to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds for under $35,000.

I drove a standard V8 pick up when I went to Calgary last year and even that was no slouch - could not corner for toffee though. I think the powerplant in the SVT is the same unit as used in the Dodge Viper.

All the ads say these pick-ups are go anywhere trucks. As much as I loved a pick up it did not think much of it when I got it stuck in a storm drain in a car park at Jasper! My would not go anywhere at all until it got dragged out quite un-ceremoniously in front of the whole car park watching. Quite amusing (my friend with me did not think so at the time!)

Th F150 is just a bog standard pickup in the states. A guy I worked with had one for the wife to take the kids to school in. I couldn't believe it was his wife's car when I stood and saw the f*cking size of it!

The SVT Lightning is a f*cking beast though, unfortunately I never saw one whilst in either California or Texas, although i saw Mustangs every 10 seconds.

Simple case ot not looking where I was going really ... trying to park it and just did not see it. You can image my amusement when my passenger said " I wondered if you had seen that but i thought you had so I said nothing. "

Stuck like it for 3 hours! Baking hot, being eaten alive my mosquito's and loads of people driving by pointing.

F150! Pah! That's just a little run around for the Missus!

What you want is a 6.8L V10 F350:

That's a proper SUV.....

yup heard of them !

i raced one in my camaro in the states...bloody surprissing fast...yet low on back on grip.

i think that it was the fastest pickup ever produced by ford, though maybe not the biggest.

If anyone has seen those F350 "Dualies" with extended cabs all jacked up on monster wheels in alabama and the south they will know about big!
