so basically as I'll be fitting the VAFC along with my exhaust and an intake is the knock sensor useless? I just received a new one I ordered from CFL last thurs 
Yes, modding the engine, especially intake/exhaust manifold makes the knock sensors useless. Knock sensor is basically a microphone programmed to listen for certain frequencies. There is just no need for them! If you engine is tuned properly and you use the correct fuel, you are never going to get detonation!

Update! The car went in the spray booth on Friday and the shell has now been painted 
I've not seen the shell since Friday but here it is ready before paint
