I've been up the workshop this morning to do a few little bits and pieces like trimming the arch liner etc ready for things to go back together as quickly as possible early next week. It was bloody freezing though!

Captain Ray was busy masking up and putting parts in the spray booth so I got some more pictures including the underside of the front arches to show the detail in his work:
Captain Ray was interrupted in this endeavour by taking a call from me to book mine in for some work - sorry!
Ah he did say he'd spoken to someone who had mentioned my name in the conversation

What are you having done?

Yeah it's a very good job, completely re-sealed and painted for rust prevention.

He's dyslexic so I think we can let him off for the grammatical error

Thanks! Hopefully this one will look even better! So close to finishing now and that first drive will feel so satisfying!

Floppy has a worse issue, some kind of S2CD. He 's trying to recreate floppy1 in that pic above

Nottm_S2 what's S2CD? An S2000 orientated OCD of some sort?

I've just been browsing through my photos and I just spotted this which I haven't uploaded; the damage to hydro locked engine. That'll be how the hole appeared in the sump!

Looking forward to seeing the new(ish) project in person

Well, I've been up the garage today to work on the car and stupidly decided to tackle the soft top replacement. Needless to say I was ready to burn the car to the ground at one point; the end is so close but in a lot of ways I've really had enough of all the bloody work and just want to enjoy driving it!

I tried to cut a few corners which is where I became unstuck as I thought it was possible to remove the roof without removing the roll hoops and almost managed it but the brackets that hold the motors and roof base were just that little bit too long to work out and in the process of getting pissed off with it I ended up doing this

http://www.flickr.com/photos/alex-collins/8614744544/http://www.flickr.com/photos/alex-collins/8614744544/ by http://www.flickr.com/people/alex-collins/, on Flickr

After a lot of swearing and an hour back home for a late lunch to cool off I then found a link on the forum that says the plastics for the roll hoops aren't supposed to separate so I just bit the bullet and took the entire centre console apart and unbolted the roll hoops from the body with the plastics in situ.

I then lifted the roof and frame out no problem

So, just when I thought I was going up the garage to put it all back together it's now in more bits

However, I'm getting up there again early to finish it off as I dropped the new roof into place just before closing so I can put the rest of the interior back together bar a few grommets that snapped on the parcel shelf.
