billy - the main problem is the engine has a light flywheel so it can rev. faster. This means it can stall faster too!
Low down torque is not the problem (Iain - you should know better ). The S2000 has as much torque at 1000rpm as my Accord Tourer (mind you I can stall that as well ).
Hot air in the intake is also a PITA and a CAI will help a lot - but the car will still stall if you don't feed in the clutch and pump up the throttle.

I sometimes get a problem when just entering the VTEC range, it gets very twitchy/juddery (nice use of wording I think!) and will then jump into life. It also drives really lumpy. Would this be the same problem?
