flat battery - jump start?
ok so after not driven the car for 12 days car battery is flat - as in not even dashboard lights come on. and i didnt leave any lights on.
no doubt it wont take a charge so will need a new one. and oh yes the battery is 8 weeks old so can get replaced for free. which means taking to garage.
so having read other posts - can i jump start with old fashtoin jump leads or does this fry the ecu?

cheers!
fed ooop with this bloomin car!
so as i see it:
1. jump start and risk new ecu which is more effing around
2. get aa to come and tow to garage to get battery replaced = more effing around (or do they use surge protector?)
3. get aa to replace battery which i have to pay for and then try and get the garage to cough up
seriously is car has caused more agro and grief in the last 5 months than my cheap as chips clio has in 7 years. an oh yes having not been driven for a month car starts first time and no sign that battery even remotely flat

The AA will come with a battery pack and connect up to that. It's not really a jump start as you're not connected to another running car, which I guess is what can cause an issue. The patrol guys know what they're doing and will have details of what they should and shouldn't do with the car and will check that the alternator is working properly.
So assuming you have home start, call the AA and tell them your battery is flat.
My battery went flat whilst the car was stuck at Honda over Xmas, and they recharged it but it's been a bit sluggish starting ever since. So I'm wondering if I should get a new battery.

My workmate jump started his Quattro Turbo recently, and knackered the digital dash. Apparently its quite common on that model as the dash has some weak electronics.
Never knew it was an issue, and obviously neither did he!

I jump my S via a jump start pack virtually every week in the winter.
Its not caused any problems in several years of doing this.

Left the interior light on in mine for a couple of weeks.
Flat as a pancake, even the alarm had nothing left
Jumped it from the wifes smart car, POS alarm then decided there was something going on it didn't like
Put it in charge after - good as new!

i jump started mine several times over xmas until i could get a new battery.... all is/was fine since..
surprise to hear of dash's going haywire.. and ecu damage.. but i guess depending on teh vehicle you get the 'jump' off anything is possible.. i just used my old accord without engine etc. running...
