Default Fitting iPod adapter

I am just about to fit a new Head Unit and an iPod Adapter to my car. I am using the fitting guides available on the forum (very good they are too), but the iPod adapter requires power from the 12v system.

Has anyone carried out this fitting on their S? Is there a convenient 12v power connector behind the Head Unit, or somewhere close?

The unit - a Pioneer CD-IB100II - comes with a power connector cable for the job. It has a yellow wire and a black wire. Yellow goes to + and requires 12v power that is always connected regardless of ignition switch. Black goes to ground. The wires end bare.

Any help appreciated

There are three 12v connectors on the fuse box which should be just above your right knee (when driving the car)

I think that there is a photo in the FAQ that details of when each of them is live.

A multimeter is your friend...btw how much power draws that thing ? Probably next to nothing but keep in mind circuits in an S are easely overloaded...

Thanks very much for such a swift reply

Looks just the job - I'll just need to get some spade connectors by the look of things.

It says that it draws 2 amps max and has a 2A fuse built into the wire.

I fitted one of these myself, I just hooked it into an existing wire - I know you're not supposed to do that but it's a low drain device so I though "f**k it".

Great unit too, works really well.

Where abouts is the wire you hooked into? Is it an easy job to do? What about the earth wire?

I will be connecting to the harness with a new adapter to enable the dashboard controls. Can I hard wire the iPod wiring to part of the original harness plug?
