Fitting a glass rear screen...
My rear plastic screen always seems to pick up dirt easily and even after a good clean, visibility through the back isn't great. I even have to resort to putting the roof down everytime I want to do a tight reversing manoeuvre, also visibility through the rear view mirror is poor.
With this in mind I'm considering getting a glass screen fitted, the one I understand that comes as standard with later models? Has anyone here done this before? What are the costs? Is there anything to be concerned about if getting this done, assuming it is possible in the first place?
Thanks in advance.

Yes it has, there's a 'how to' on here somewhere.
It's not cheap, it need's an extra strap to make sure the screen folds correctly.
Have you cleaned the plastic screen with the BMW plastic window cleaner? only about

I'm sure someone with a lot more knowledge will advise soon enough but I remember reading that you need a new hood as they are not the same size - you simply can't replace them - I seem to remember there being one guy in particular that looked into it a lot and the price was frightening!

To be honest, the practical "improvement" isn't worth it either imho. Ok, so I haven't had a placcy screen to compare with but visibility through the glass screen is crap too.
I don't mean "through" the material as it's clear, natch, but the size of it, placement etc. I only tend to use my wing mirrors for looking out the back for manoeuvering if I haven't got the top down.

I considered it when I had jimpom23's car but decide to wait until I had a problem with the hood or screen. Which hasn't happened.
If you are going to do it. You can buy a new hood from hardtopguy for not much more than a used breakers one. With no issues of how it was taken off
