Try a bit of heat on it and the same on the lock nuts but very slowly on the drop link nuts so you don't melt the rubber gaiters ( wet cloth on it )
.
Do you no any one with an impact wrench, that will do the job on the links and others ,,good look

If I lived near you I would bring mine up for

Thanks for all the help folks, and for the offer to borrow tools. I've been very lucky with the weather today. It wasn't cold, windy or raining, in fact it was perfect for working on the car.

Well I finally got those nuts off the drop links, and easily undid the four bracket bolts. Next problem was getting the roll bar out. I removed the rear arm bar, and started on dropping the exhaust out, however those three bolts from the CAT to rear section wouldn't move. So I had to put it all back to standard as I need the car for the rest of the week

I'll get some Plus Gas and keep applying some on the exhaust bolts and anything I've got to take off to fit the front ARB.

I'll probably have a go at the front this weekend, so expect to see this thread near the top on Saturday. I don't like being beaten on car modifying.
Sorry to hear you had problems with the arb's, i've had a many a problem swapping these on cars in the past, they are a simple but very time consuming job.

They are worth it though so don't give up!

Just a thought on removing the rear bar, i've not actually looked on my car but is it not possible to slide the bar out sideways i.e. out the wheel arch?

This is just a suggestion I have no idea if it's possible or not but may help you in the future.

Keep us posted how you get on and good luck!

Rick

Dembo - Not cleaning the threads up was my first mistake. Also cleaning out the allen key socket meant the allen key didn't always sit in there flush, which can cause the thing to round off. Don't worry I've not given up just yet.

booboo01 - Funnily enough the hex set I finally used came from an impact wrench, it also had a handy 1/2 " drive adaptor which I also made use of. Thanks for the offer of tools. I'm happy that I'll get the other two drop link nuts off the front, and now I've cleaned the rear ones, they will come off a threat. I might try applying some heat to the exhaust bolts though, as they were stuck fast.

Redun - I did try to get the rear ARB out through one of the wheel arches, but the lower wishbones, and/or the underside of the boot got in the way, so it wouldn't come out. At least I know that I've got to do to get it out next time.

I'll try and take a few photos next time as well. Fingers crossed the weather is okay on Saturday, as my mate said he'd give me a hand.

StevenM - Interesting that you say you didn't need to drop the exhaust to fit your ARB. I notice however that you have an Amuse system on yours, and I still have the standard setup. This leaves me with a lot less space to get the ARB out/in.

Can you remember if you still had the standard exhaust on yours when you changed your ARB's?

Out of interest, what springs/dampers are you combining all this with?

At present I'm still on the standard '02 setup. I've not started looking into this aspect of the handling setup yet.
