Contemplating buying the model down from the one you just got, the 6500. Looks like a good buy at £100.

Yeah I thought about that but the SD slot was a nice to have.

Can't remember if the 6500 has Bluetooth but that's useful for me, took a call on it the other day and at local roads speeds it was clear so happy with that.

Only thing I don't like is the display, maybe I need to tweak the colours.

You can watch halfords, they'll do that unit c£100 sometimes

Just bought the same set up as Nottm_S2 and going to install this afternoon, if it stops raining. Any tips for Dab aerial position on the screen, plus USB Lead and Bluetooth mic location?

Yup.

DAB aeriel on the rear wing as already stated.

The only mic. location I've found that isn't utter crap is on the 86; it's on top of the steering column shroud pointing at your face. It's superb.

Cheers Nick, I'll look to upgrade the beesting to a dab later in the year and make do with windscreen one now.

I've just got the HU working, though without the dash controls working, so will need to get the additional harness another day, or live without the controls as they're hardly that useful.

Now to work out how & where to route the mic and rear USB...

Here's a clue. The thing on top of the column:

PS - Modifry allows far more useful control functions than the rather basic OEM ones.

Done. All working as it should and so easy to route wires through the trim. Sound is such an improvement over stock.

Argh, hit a snag, don't have the 5mm x 8mm tapping screws needed to fit the Honda unit's brackets on to the pioneer so will have to get some tomorrow with it being Sunday...

I tie wrapped it on using a few tie wraps. The HU has no threads in it and I didn't fancy the metal shavings from self rappers falling into the unit. Odd IMO
