First Service Dilemma
Hmmm, I've now done 6200 miles 3.5 months. However in mid July me and the g/f are going for a jaunt around Europe in the S. The route I've planned is going to be approx 2500 miles. And I'm probably going to do another 300 miles this weekend so I'm probably going to hit the magic 9000 near the end of the holiday.
What are peoples thoughts on getting the car serviced between 9-10000, or should I just bite the bullet and get it serviced early. This option annoys me as I'll end up getting confused on service intervals and feels like I'm paying more.
Or alternatively, just get the oild changed before then service after. I didn't replace the oil at 4500 miles (never had the chance).
What do people think?

Oil is an engines lifeblood.
No SINGLE other thing will make it live longer. Fresh oil will make the best of what you have.
Risk oil changes at your peril.
I`m sure anybody can equate a 60 quid (inc Honda labour) oil drop with a 25k motor.
Particularly one that revs to 9.2k

Your car is new which means you should leave the factory fill oil in there till 9000 - it has an additive which aids break in. JUst make sure you take a some oil with you for fill up.

Whats the option of the 4.5 k change in the sevice manual for then. Can they not replace the oil, and additive?
and you really expect your Honda dealership to get it right?
leave the oil in there till9k IMO and just take some topup oil if needed

I don't buy the molybednum additive. If you recall, the oil bolt recall enforced removal of moly at 5.5k and swap to synth.
Oil changes make cars live, I speak with much experience after owning company cars with 140k and 200k.

There is no mention of additive in the '05 manual. I checked. They say fully synth. So I've been topping up with fully synth, used about 1l so far.
So people don't think I should bite the bullet at service at probably about 7k (guestimated mileage before heading to Europe)?

I had my first service at 3750 or something and I insisted that the dealership replace the molybednum (sp???) additive. It was done correctly by Crown Honda - you can by the additive from them for around
