first gear clunk

i have been reserected.

still get clunk now and again.


gtfctim was right engage clutch for a second before slaming it in first or just ignore it.

Mine clunks and then likes to pop out of gear just as I'm pulling away.

I read somewhere that some people hold their gearsticks in place when cornering at speed in to prevent it sometimes vacating on sending the car into a spin.

I'm sure it's another myth though...

It's just the driveshaft taking up slack from the gearbox to the diff when you engage 1st gear at a standstill.

Imagine putting a car up on stands, in neutral, the wheels will still spin if the engines running. Same thing esp in a gear with clutch in.

All of them should do it

That's hydraulic drag! It's how a hydraulic coupling works.
