normally with 2 stage compression, you have an intercooler between stages to cool the hotter compressed gas.

Russell, so I would have thought, but he didn't mention any cooler on the turbo-SC air. He did say it's crowded and a cooler's gonna need to be a good few litres = space.

Anyway it's watch this space for sure

eer, thanks, I'd got that!

I was thinking what the coloquial name would be, rather than Twin Turbo
It's not Twin Turbo, as it only has one.

It's called "Twin charging".

By Dawkins, one must wade through some jerk-off posts, in order to get to the facts on that site!

From waht I can ascertain, he 80s-blacked out the rear lights & stuck a 'supercharged' badge on it. No further evidence.

I've not driven a hypercharged Polo or Golf or FIAT or whatever, but I cannot imagine it's any good for throttle response. But like steering feel or pedal feel, it no longer matters.

I'm not entirely conviced there's a weight/compactness saving over a larger four, either. Not on a car substantially larger than a Smart Fourtwo.

Possibly there would be volumetric efficiency gains by doing it to a Wankel engine.

But a twin-turbo setup would probably be simplest and least troublesome in the long run.
