Wheres the best place to keep an eye out for these for sale? Going to need to get myself a set for the winter coming in I think.

Here or ebay - don't be tempted into paying silly money for fully refurbished stuff - they're winter wheels

I'm thinking of going back to my 16" stocks and getting some Continentals for the darker months, but the 452's seem to hold really well. Perhaps I should flog the wheels but its tempting to fit track tyres instead. But then back to the 'how to get 4 wheels to track in an S?' thread...

Done a quick search on confused for someone about 21 with 2yr NCB and came back with the following:

You got a named driver or multi-car policy to get your quote down to £1000?
As for being a bit cautious about owning one due to horror stories of the back end going, I wouldn't worry about that aspect too much. I went to the S after driving a Golf GT TDI (110bhp) for 3 years, the back-end has gone on it once...when I took it into a Tesco car park when it was damp and that was to find out what it would take to push the back-end out.
As long as you have common sense you should be fine. For £1000 insurance I would go for it, 6 months on and I still take unusually long detours on the way to the shops. Its a ridiculously enjoyable car to drive and the joy of blazing Corsas at traffic lights will never be more fun.

Yeh, set of winter tyres on 16 inch rims is around 300 quid and it will be very stable in all conditions. It will spit you out on summers if you get it wrong but on the right tyre, ice, snow and water logged roads are no problem.
You will easily get more than 300 quid off so it's not a bad time to buy, just you will have to wait 6 months still it starts to make proper sense, but winter crisp mornings with the cold sun out, heater on and top down is an awesome experience.

£300 for winter tyres sounds good tbh, id probably invest in some rims for the car anyway so would have the stocks sitting round to put the winter tyres on. Any sort you would recommend?
