Whilst I'm not qualified to answer your suspension questions, ( & you would be well advised to take the advice from those here that are qualified ) you may be interested in my Honda experience after moving from a 1990 Mk 1 MX-5.
The lack of torque is to the point of being inexcusable until you learn how to use the gearbox and ALL the revs.: yes all 9000 of them.
Initially the car felt more bulky & cumbersome, yet much more solid and secure, leaving you feeling less vulnerable.
Until you gain confidence it seems to lack the dart-like, light handling of the Mazda.
The power to weight ratio and willingness to swop ends can be compared to the MX-5, except it all happens quicker and hitting VTEC with 7000+ revs on the clock & 240+BHP at the wheels, can border on being lethal, & that's in the dry.
Heed ALL the warnings on this matter.
Have fun - I do.

I progressively upgraded my car from stock.... ....The car is almost indistinguishable from stock
wouldn't you want it to be substantially distinguishable from stock after having spent loads of money on it?
(or do you mean in terms of ride quality alone?)
P.S. sorry for the multiple posts.. the quoting system (with the seperate box for quotes) is really weird on here....

Us "original" owners say that Honda softened the car with every evolution, and that the original car is the purest driving machine.
others may say that's bollocks
I haven't driven enough later cars to decide really, but I know there wasn't a huge difference between 99-01 and 02-04 models

Although I did hear a rumour recently that in the future your car may get it's CO2 ratings from the MOT for your own car - I think the S2k would fair ok in that situation - feck knows why VTEC engines are at the top of the scale - our Accord Type R will get hit for the full
