I have just checked the specification of the reader I bought and it says it is

Car OBD2 II EOBD Diagnostic Scanner CAN DTC Fault Code Reader U380 Multifunction

So it says it is EOBD compliant.................................???

As you can see from the picture I made the same mistake as you, not all S2000 ecus are the same, guess it happenened in '04 or 06 that they changed the spec, trust me if you have an '06 the one on the right works.

Right, managed to order a CreaderV from japan, only cost £34 in total! Bargain.

Checked the reader this morning and the fault code is:

P0135 -02 sensor heater circuit (bank 1 sensor 1)

Had a quick google to see what it meant, but still not sure what it is, more importantly, how serious is the issue and should I take it to the garage asap?

There you go O2 sensor the one on the exhaust manifold I think, don't go to Honda £200!

No big hurry, may up your fuel consuption a bit, and affect your emitions, could fail an MOT, thats all.

Mabey, could have killed off an already weak sensor. They only last around 5 years/45k miles so I consider them a consumable. If you don't fancy changeing it yourself (after checking if it's the manifold or CAT mounted one) any auto electrics guy can do it in mins for under £100. Just a thought you haven't gone decat have you? may be related.
