FAQ Oil or Manual Oil?
I got a leaflet with my new car saying that it should be run on 5W30 synth (a little tick next to 5w30 magnetec), but the FAQ says 10W30 mineral for running in. Who to believe?

Don't use synthetic for running in. Mineral oil allows "controlled wear" which is what you need initially-Halfords do a 10-30 in an orange bottle. You can go synthetic at the first oil change as long as the car is nicely run in-I took mine to Lake Como in Italy and used the Alps as my running in period. Ideal as lots of changes of speed, gear changes, varying loads etc. When running in my motorbike I kept mineral until 15 K.

Top up with the oil reccomended by the supplier. That way you can't go wrong.
The first fill of oil in the engine may well be mineral but adding a fully or semi synthetic as a top up will not harm the breaking in process in any way. any good quality 0W 30 , 10W 30, 5W 40 or 10W 40 will be fine.

My dealer also said this is the brand they use for all work too.
Used for years with no issues, including the big-bore bike engine. Good stuff.
