No this isn't a 'you've got a PM thread'

I belive you bought the same clock as I've just bought. How did you wire it to the fuse box (I'm a novice when it comes to electrical stuff mind)? Also where did you wire the o/s temp gauge?

Many thanks

Yep, that's the one. I covered all that nasty writing and logo stuff with matt black insualting tape.

The clock is battery run.

The light is wired to the 'with ingition on' spare spade terminal in the block up behind the dash above your right leg. (There are three unused spade terminals there. one is always on, on is on in "accessory" mode, and one is on with ignition only.

The temp sensor wire runds behind the door seal and is stuck to the body in the gap where the enside edge of the door closes

HTH

Drac, I also have the same one! As an alternative, if you don't have a hardtop then the clock fits perfectly just above the interior lights below the roof line, there is a flat area there. From there I ran the temperature sensor wire inside the windscreen trim down to the passenger door hinge area and the switched power wire down the driver's side to the fuse box and used a male spade connector to plug into the fuse box (as described by Pete).

Don't have a pic at the moment but could nip out and take one if you want?

Colin - It's a real bugger trying to use the clutch with my right foot too!

PWE 896 - I'm unsure about the light wiring. I see a few fuses and realy boxes etc. but unsure how to exactly do the wiring.
Is there a feed that runs off the lights so that the light is only on when the lights are on?

Sorry about the q's but I'm nervous when it comes to fiddling with electrics.

OK, complete dummy alert. Where do I acquire one of these male spade connectors and how difficult is it to splice onto the power lead then run into the fusebox. Is it the kind of thing that somewhere like Maplin would stock?

(NEVER underestimate my lack of ability and knowledge when it comes to practical matter like this! )

Drac, give me 10 minutes I will post some pics for you of both my mounting position ( ) and the fuse box connection.

BTW, IIRC the connectors in the fuse block are male spades. It's a female spade you need on the end of your wire to connect to it.

OK, here are some pics of my clock install. First location, by mounting it here it is not obstructed by steering wheel and/or knees. Also, the wires can be fed into the interior light assembly and then run down the windscreen trim ...

The next picture shows the wire with the connector on the end, not very clear but it is not very photgenic! As Pete said it is actually a female spade connector (available from Halfords in little boxes) that goes on the wire ...

Lastly a pic showing the connection to the fuse box. This is the "on with ignition" live feed and is perfect for the job, remember that the clock itself has a light detector so will only illuminate when it is dark anyway ...

HTH,

- Adam.
