I'd go in at £11.5k.

Then walk away when they laugh at you.

Leave them your phone number and expect a call in a day or two. Then go for £12k inc suspension geo greasing as a non-negotiable part of the deal. Then try and get the 4 piece mats too
Hmmm, I was thinking about going in at £11K because all four wheels need a refurb and the tyres are not the right ones. I reckon that will be the thick end of a grand to put right before we've even started.

Dave.

All good indicators of how (or not) the car has been looked after.

about the suspension bushes, Get them to do the work to grease all the bushes and show it to you on the ramp. followed by a quick trip to your favourite alignment specialist to get it aligned properly.

There's no telling whether a car of that age and miles will or won't have issues until it's checked and the advantage of it being at a dealership is they can check it for peanuts.

£11k doesn't sound too unreasonable a starting price to me.

I would have thought that 12K would be a decent price, it is a dealer after all and you do get the benefits of buying from one. I am always happy to pay a little more to get a car from an authorised dealer. Shame they usually have a "Joke" sticker price but, if you can get to a fair price i think its worth it.

Do you mean 12K as is, or 12K after the wheels have been refurbed, decent tyres fitted, and suspension bushed greased?

I've now spoken to the dealer. The car has had two owners, not one as the advert states.

The car would come with 12 months MOT, 12 months parts and labour warranty, plus 12 months AA cover. It would also be freshly serviced.

Sorry, yeah i mean get the car how you want for 12K. I've never been one to buy a car that needs work, not worth it IMO. Get them to do the work and agree a fair price.

I'm sure you could find one cheaper going private, i guess it depends how much you think buying from a dealer is worth.

That still doesn't address the bushes, wheels and tyres though...

I think going in at £11K and explaining why you think that would be a good starting point...

I went to see the car today. Didn't get to the nitty gritty of doing a deal with the salesman as I have to sell my Exige first (hopefully this week). I did notice a few scratches, the wheels aren't actually scuffed; it looks more as if the laquer has failed and there are white marks under the laquer (can a refurb deal with this?). Also the brake calipers are VERY rusty (like totally brown). Is this just because the car has been standing or do I need to worry about it?

Thanks,
Dave.

can I assume this is not a Honda main agent selling the car?

if so, 'freshly serviced' will just harm the value even more on a car of that age
