Default Facelift headlight thefts

I've just seen something on twitter from 'the Sunday Times Driving'.

It appears thieves have been stealing lights from high end 4x4s to sell to cannabis growers.

I'm guessing these cretins are doing the same with S2k lights? Everyone who has seen my cars headlights have commented on how awesome they are, would not surprise if we have been targeted for this reason?

They are also quite expensive. £500 each (second hand) I think.

I could believe that was the reason if there were a fair few available used, but when you consider the supply should also be bolstered by the amount of cars that seem to get written off so often, there really aren't many for sale, anywhere, ever?

Almost full circle - drug dealers cars having their lights pinched to grow cannabis - out of interest is the light temperature correct for plant cultivation ..... that story has a funny smell about it, much like what they are allegedly growing!

The currant bun reaches us at about 3000K and HIDs are 4300K, so it's close.

Taxi rapist rice kits @ 6000K ought to confound them - though they'd probably not realise until it's too late.

They're being stolen from Range Rovers because they're apparently very easy to remove (i.e. without taking off the bumper). IIRC to steal an S2000 head light cluster you need to remove the front bumper. In any case, I don't think S2000s will be targeted. Plenty of other cars have similarly bright head lights.

If I'm not mistaken, you can remove the headlights without removing the front bumper, there has been numerous cases of just the headlights being nicked down in Bristol.

Oh really? I've seen photos where the bumper was removed so I thought that was the way - I stand corrected. But still, they are nothing special if all the thief wants them for is for growing.

If mine was anything to go by the bumper was removed first

I don't expect that S2000 lights hang or mount as well as ones designed to go on the front of boxy Range Rovers.
