Exhaust Paint
#11
I've used Halfords exhaust paint on my calipers. very acceptable finish and it's not burnt off there so would be fine assuming it stuck in the first place?
Mike, one of the mods, posted some pics as he did the same on his calipers (and i shamelessly nicked the idea)

OP - Not sure you are going to get exhaust paint to stick to stainless or titanium

what about getting it powder coated with tinted clear, thats what they use for the smoked chrome finish on wheels, bright silver with a tinted clear coatmay look a bit better than plain black which could look like a home made steel exhaust in plain black

I'm doubtful about powder coating but chrisr111 may well know of an HT powder coating. An enamel or ceramic coating might be worth considering but I wouldn't have a clue as to where to go in the barren North.
I had a bugger of a job painting my old Mondial system when I had the silencer modified. I was however off my head for a while from the fumes - which was nice.
I'm wondering if some form of 'staining' or oxidising of the metal may be possible with an Oxalic acid or other nasty liquid...

I spoke to guy who works at the powder coaters, he said that you can powder coat titanium (cannot powder coat stainless steel) and that it would remain intact up to approx. 260-270 degrees C. Above that temperature it would start to become tacky but would dry hard again when it cooled down.
He said that they'd powder coated parts on turbos so a back box should be no probelm.
HTH
Chris.
